A simple way to play a .wav file, cross platform?

Stew MacLean

Hi,

I’m looking for a simple solution to playing a .wav file, in a cross platform manner.

Is this possible via a call to the VM (based on the assumption that the VM plays the start up sound in a cross platform manner)?

I’ve looked at SDLMixer, but couldn’t get it to work.

Jun is another option, which I haven’t tried as yet, and I’m not sure it does sound. How simple is this to install and what would I need to deploy with my app for Windows, Mac OSX/9 and Linux?

Thanks,

Stewart

Gee, yes, I did work in SuperCollider for a while a few years ago,
but it's still too flaky and unstable for serious work (IMHO) (and
has no development tools, like a debugger), so we built our own
system called CSL in C++ here at UCSB.
