Hello, In a previous email I presented an early video of Woden, my new graphics engine written in Pharo. Here I have a new video in which I show some of the features of Woden: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Nze9tnwYxY&feature=youtu.beGofer new smalltalkhubUser: 'ronsaldo' project: 'Woden'; package: 'ConfigurationOfWoden'; load. (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfWoden) loadBleedingEdge Ronie |
thanks ronie :)

when can we get a tetris in 3d based on woden :)

This is truly impressive. This clearly show that Pharo can be use to make serious 3d games.

I want this in Roassal :)

It is coming! Being to use these lighting and scalability possibility to render data is very very high on your todo list. This is all new stuff! We are actively working on this.
We are currently migrating things from Roassal3d to WodenRoassal. Check the code :-) @ Ronie, we need to have Woden-Roassal loaded by the configuration The number of elements that can be displayed by Woden is impressive. You can have several millions of polygons (literally), and it is smooth like hell. thats great news, I have to say I was and still am sceptical on the subject of performance. But if you say it can handle million of polygons already thats very good news and it already makes it very useful as a library. The fact that you wrap Roassal 3d (even 2d ?) around it , is a very wise move and makes Roassal even more tempting. I also plan to port Blender Game Engine through my Ephestos project, so it looks like 2 powerful game engines/graphic engines are coming to Pharo which should open a big door to graphical 3d visualisation for Pharo.

Wow! Cool :) I experimented with Unity but was too spoiled by live, dynamic programming. I did a brief spike of IPC between Unity and Pharo but the performance was poor enough that I quickly abandoned it.
Cheers,

It would be fantastic if there were a Pharo SDK for Meta which is powered by Unity (https://www.metavision.com/).
