Adding Chris Cunningham and Tony Garnock Jones as core developers

David T. Lewis
The Squeak Oversight Board met today and voted unanimously to invite
Chris Cunningham (cbc) and Tony Garnock Jones (tonyg) to be core developers
with commit rights to trunk.

Chris, Tony - with your permission we will add you to the 'Core Developers'
group on source.squeak.org.

Congratulations and thanks for your contributions, past and future!

On behalf of the board,
Dave

This is a very good new.
Bravo for all 2018 Boards members.
And a proposal .
We need "bench" members like sports teams.
Board could meet on open channel as regular basis and the rest could join as
observers.
As way of web meeting my suggestions goes to Discord as do not have the
limits of Slack

I like your idea of holding open meetings. There are some times when the
board needs to discuss something privately. For example, there are rare
cases where inappropriate behavior on the mailing lists needs to be
discussed. But most of the time, the board is discussing things of general
interest.

I don't know anything about Discord, and for me the the Google hangouts
have been working well because I can access them from my cell phone or
from my Linux laptop (sometimes I only a cell phone available). I also
like the connection to shared google docs for agendas and note taking.

I do not know if there is a way to make the Google hangouts available for
people joining as observers but if there is a way to do it, then I like
the idea.

Dave

You can stream a Hangout live on Youtube. That is how the weekly "show
and tell" at Ada Fruit works, for example: a group of five or six people
meet in a Hangout while a few dozen people just watch on Youtube.

I am not familiar with Discord either, but if it works well it could be
an option:

Thank you very much! I'd be delighted to accept.

I've opened up http://squeak.org/development_process/ and am refreshing
my memory of the process :-)

HI.

Lots of good stuff here:  http://squeak.org/development_process/
There are pieces missing, though, too.  In particular:
* Squeak-Version (i.e., what to do when removing packages)
* the update configurations - when, why, how.

The first point I'd be happy to write up, if someone would be willing to update the page (especially since the in-image documentation is the first things I want to actually commit in response to Eliot's reasonable request).

The second point - I'd be happy to write up what I know about it from previous conversations, and then really happy to have the folks who have actually been using update configurations correct what I write.

That sounds like a reasonable way to do it.

I have to note that Tobias has been dropping hints about some sort of
'collaborate.squeak.org' project that sounds promising, maybe we can get
some details on that sometime soon :-)

Hi Chris,

Funny you should mention it. One of the things that Eliot brought up
in the board discussion this week was that we need to put a real
emphasis on documenting our processes and making the information easy
to find on our (already excellent) squeak.org web site.

Yes. When my kids are a little less sick, I'll do a writeup
