Application Deployment

gregarican
There's a test application I'm creating using Dolphin 5.1 CE. If I want
to deploy this how do I go about doing so? I have read about
Application Deployments Kits and Web Deployment Kits for previous
versions of Dolphin. But what about my 5.1 CE version? For internal
testing purposes will I have to purchase an upgraded edition in order
to package a standalone application?

The best thing to do is read the license agreement or wait for an answer
from OA.

The separate ADK is a thing of the past; it has been included in the pro
editions for a while now.  At one time anyway, OA did not forbid
deployment from non-pro editions, but they didn't exactly support doing
so either.  Even if they allow it, I would urge you to upgrade vs.
spending a lot of time hacking your own solution to the problem.  Lagoon
is quite powerful, and there is no point in reinventing that wheel.

Have a good one,

Bill

The simple answer is, yes, you should purchase the Professional edition
of Dolphin. One of the major enhancements in the Professional version
is the ability to deploy applications to executables. There is nothing
in the Dolphin Value Edition license that will prevent you from writing
your own deployment code but I can tell you that it will be a great
deal of work and, unless you don't value your time very highly, it will
be far cheaper to purchase Dolphin Professional in the long run.

As we no longer sell Dolphin 5.1 Professional, the most straightforward
option would be for you to upgrade to Dolphin 6 Pro if you want to
build stand-alone applications.

Best Regards,
