Attempting to re-record sound, causes sound-output freeze

Ajay Garg-2
Hi all.

We are facing the following issue on XO-1.75.

1)
Go to "Supplies" -> "Sound Recorder", and record a sound.

2)
Click "Play"; the (recorded) sound plays fine.

3)
Again, click "Record", and apparently record some sound.

4)
Clicking "Play" does not play any sound this time.

5)
Even trying to play a mp3, doesn't work fine.

Squeak-VM version ::           4.4.7-2357
===============

Etoys version ::                   5.0 (build 2406)
===========

I have a hunch, that the sound-recorder doesn't "close" the sound-resource, once it is done; thereby causing further sound freeze.

Is there a workaround in the shorter term?

Will be grateful for any replies.

Regards,

Ajay Garg

Anybody have any clues about this one ?

Could it be a Linux sound plugin bug?

Re: Attempting to re-record sound, causes sound-output freeze

Works fine on other platforms so yes I'd expect it to be a Linux problem. You could experiment with a different sound module (OSS / ALSA / Pulse) and with the soundStopWhenDone and soundQuickStart preferences. I'm away from my XOs unfortunately so cannot test myself.
