Ah, a way of paving the path for more commercial use of Smalltalk!
BrainBench has an online Smalltalk certification exam. Check it out at: http://brainbench.com/testcenter/brainbench/cert.jsp?ol=true&core=/vtc/cert/outlines/smalltalkoutline.jsp I don't work for them. I just think it's neat. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Jan Theodore Galkowski ºoº [hidden email] algebraist.com/ wikiweb.com/ intercot.com/ [hidden email] *********************************************************************** "Smalltalk? Vinay, That's good to know. Apparently, Smalltalk isn't popular enough for them to list preparatory tests to give a feel for it, and I don't have the hour right now to take the full test. I hope to, soon. So, they don't do much about patterns and design? Actually, as I recall, half the test is about OO design and analysis, with at least one question about design patterns (the test is adaptive, so the questions that I saw won't necessarily be the ones you see). Take the test, it's fun... -- Ned Konz currently: Stanwood, WA email: [hidden email] homepage: http://bike-nomad.com |

I'd have to agree that the Smalltalk part is too easy. > So, they don't do much about patterns and design? The Smalltalk exam has two modules (you have to take both): Object-Oriented design and Smalltalk. The Smalltalk exam is, as I said above, easy for anyone who has at least written a class or two in ST. The OO design module I found a bit harder and the questions were a little more refined (although there were some broken english questions/answers here and there)...the questions included metrics, patterns, and design. The goal of each question seemed obvious upon reading it which is why I'm a bit surprised that I didn't do better on that part...wow! I sound like one of my students. All and all it was fun to take the exam. Since I've never worked professionally on a ST project I wanted to see where I stood. I doubt that I would hire someone based on the results of this test but I would certainly consider it as part of an application package. David Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy. |
