Re: Building Shrink wrapped apps In Smalltalk

Mark Pirogovsky-3
Hello All,

We all know about great applications built with Smalltalk VW, VSE, VA
etc.  Most of the Smalltalk IDEs are build using itself.  However most
of the wellknowns -- are corporate applications which are built and used
inside of the big Financial, Insurance, Telecom and other such companies.

Our presentation will concentrate on the other kind of markets and user
communities i.e. "shrink wrapped" application that the user buys on the
CD or downloads of the web.

I think that for the presentation it would be interesting, and
beneficial as well, to mention other "shrink wrapped" application
written in Smalltalk.
The whole point of the presentation --to demonstrate and promote that we
can successfully build any type of applications while using our favorite
tool.

Of the top of my head I can probably name few, such as:

Elasto Lab --

Bottom feeder,

MetEdit+

VW itself

Liberty Basic

http://www.libertybasic.com

ATLAS.ti
http://www.atlasti.de/

KnowledgeScape
http://www.kscape.com/

etc.

Please, please everybody - can you add to the list ?

Note:

The list above is tilted toward the usage of VW.  However there are many
great applications written using VSE (I did work on two).

I don't know anything about "shrink wrapped" apps written in VA,
Dolphin, Squick, MT,etc ... other then the fact that their IDEs are
mostly written in themselves.

Truly,

Mark Pirogovsky
