In the hopes of starting a discussion of things we could do during the three days (August 21-23) of Camp Smalltalk PDX. here are some ideas:
- The hackerspace has 4 3d printers (3 maker bots and another one I can't remember the name of). We could put them to use making Raspberry Pi cases (e.g. from thingiverse.com [1]) with a balloon or Squeak mouse logo or some such. It looks like Squeak 5.0 runs on the Pi with few/no problems. Presumably Pharo & Cuis aren't that far off if at all. - If anyone is interested in "cloud" stuff I have a Seaside web app & I'm working on a project to get it tested in multiple browsers automatically. The goal is to go from committing a Smalltalk code change and have a dozen or so Azure and AWS servers run in-browser Selenium tests. I'm using Ansible [2] & Jenkins [3] for that to script everything together. I'm hopeful to have it "done" before then but we'll see. - About 45 miles east of Portland there is a fish stand [4] where Native Americans sell salmon caught that day. I intend to drive out there midday Saturday to get some for the cookout. Anyone wanting to go for a scenic drive could go and we can stop by Multnomah Falls [5] to do a short hike & take in the view. - I'd like some help getting an LMDB [6] plugin running for Squeak/Pharo using the old BerkeleyDB plugin code. My C skills are _weak_ but I'm willing to cram some study in before the weekend if anyone wants to work on that. Of course I'm happy to pitch in on others ideas as I can. 1 - http://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=raspberry+pi+case&sa= 2 - http://ansible.com 3 - http://jenkins-ci.org/ 4 - https://goo.gl/maps/WUXcx 5 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multnomah_Falls 6- http://symas.com/mdb/ _______________________________________________ scona-list mailing list [hidden email] http://scona.us/mailman/listinfo/scona-list |

My C skills are _weak_ but I'm willing to cram some study in before the weekend if anyone wants to work on that. I’m also interested in making plugins. I’ve been looking at sqUnixExternalPrims.c a lot with gdb. My C knowledge is also fledgling. I’m also very interested in Xtreams. I have VisualWorks running on my Mac. I’m trying to write to write a PEG parsing generator class in Squeak like the one in VisualWorks. This converts wiki syntax into HTML. Paul,
As presented last week at ESUG, there is also VisualWorks on Raspberry Pi 2, see also http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/main/2015/07/cincom-smalltalk-enables-adventure-world-german-language-expansion/ Question: are the 3d printers controlled by Smalltalk or are they accessible from Raspberry? Hi Georg,
That is great that VW is running on the Pi. Their Makerbots do not run on Smalltalk or a Pi as far as I know. One is on a Mac and the two others are on a windows machine, and I think they run Makerbot Desktop (http://www.makerbot.com/desktop) for printing. I'll check about whether we can attempt to run the Makerbots using our own software/hardware. I think it should be OK. I don't know that anyone has written driver software to run them from Smalltalk. Or did you mean to create the .stl files that they use when printing? Thanks Paul > On Jul 24, 2015, at 6:55 AM, Georg Heeg <[hidden email]> wrote: > > Paul, > > As presented last week at ESUG, there is also VisualWorks on Raspberry Pi 2, see also http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/main/2015/07/cincom-smalltalk-enables-adventure-world-german-language-expansion/ > > Question: are the 3d printers controlled by Smalltalk or are they accessible from Raspberry? > > Georg > > Von meinem iPhone gesendet > >> Am 24.07.2015 um 05:49 schrieb Paul DeBruicker via scona-list <[hidden email]>: >> >> In the hopes of starting a discussion of things we could do during the three days (August 21-23) of Camp Smalltalk PDX. here are some ideas: >> >> >> - The hackerspace has 4 3d printers (3 maker bots and another one I can't remember the name of). Paul,
We do not have any software yet to control 3d printers. In our first Raspberry project we have 70+ buttons which control audio files to be played and led LEDs. 3d printing is on the todo list though.
