Clarify VM download info on the website

simondenier
I was looking for a Cog VM with plugins and the information on the website is not very clear about the best way to get one.

First, on the download page there is still a link to the old CI server (or is it still used?)
http://www.pharo-project.org/pharo-download

Second, the link for the Cog VMs points to http://www.mirandabanda.org/files/Cog/VM/
Unfortunately, these VMs come with no plugin.

Why not advertizing the Cog VMs on https://ci.lille.inria.fr/pharo/view/Cog/ ?
(at least the blessed ones)

Yes, we need to fix all that...

I will slowly do it.

Re: Clarify VM download info on the website

Marcus Denker-4
Hi,

I did the following:

1) I took the VMs used in the one-click and made zip files from them.

https://gforge.inria.fr/frs/download.php/29040/CogVM-Mac-13307.zip
https://gforge.inria.fr/frs/download.php/29042/CogVM-Unix-13307.zip
https://gforge.inria.fr/frs/download.php/29045/CogVM-Win-13307.zip

The version number is the last update number. This way it's clear: use that VM with 1.3

2) I simplified http://www.pharo-project.org/pharo-download

        - one one-click is referenced
        - for 1.3 and 1.4, one image is referenced
        - The VMs are referenced and only those.

We can simplify it even more: the .sources is contained in the image zips, so we don't
need to mention it.

Better?

Looks nice

should we maybe mark the 1.4 as beta?

Yes!

Even in the side tab it should not read 'Release 1.4' but "beta 1.4" (or alpha? development?)
