I'm trying to help someone many miles away install CogSpur on a mac. I run Linux as a newb. On the mac they have run:

Try using uncompress. Uncompress myfile Tar myfile Sent from my iPhone

Hi Joseph, Thanks for the prompt reply. Sorry to not respond sooner, but the mac user only just now got back to me for a few minutes. Still no success, but we'll restart from the beginning on another day. We probably need some options because "uncompress CogSpur.tgz" resulted in: overwrite Cogspur.tgz? y uncompress: CogSpur.tgz.Z: No such file or directory We'll try again with something like "uncompress -dkNl CogSpur.tgz" assuming mac options are same as Debian8, followed by "tar CogSpur.tar" (?) - Dan On 01/17/2017 05:44 PM, Joseph Alotta

I tried uncompress on Linux and it works as expected - but actually I thought gz extension was gzip,
So maybe "gunzip CogSpur.tgz" will work better. And btw this seems related... cheers -ben On Fri, Jan 20, 2017 at 12:18 PM, Dan Norton <[hidden email]> wrote:

Double-clicking CogSpur.tgz works just as well. I suspect the download was corrupt. Try deleting it and download again. Maybe use a web browser instead of curl. - Bert - _______________________________________________ Beginners mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/beginners |
