Finally, the book I'm working on for a while is finished. I know that this book
won't add any knowledge to most of the members of this mailing list, since it is aiming absolute beginners, but if you see someone around willing to learn what programming and GNU Smalltalk/Smalltalk is about then feel free to recommend the book. You can grab your copy from: http://www.canol.info/books/computer_programming_using_gnu_smalltalk/computer_programming_using_gnu_smalltalk.zip _______________________________________________ help-smalltalk mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/help-smalltalk

I actually like the book. Seems like a good school-book for people who start learning programming. Do you plan to release source-code of the book somewhere? There are some inaccuracies within the text and I will be glad to provide patches. Github would be the most convenient tool for this, I believe. _______________________________________________ help-smalltalk mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/help-smalltalk |

Which is not convenient to use with VCSs (and actually not convenient for writing big books). I wish I had time to learn and rewrite it in LaTeX or DocBook. Hopefully I'll rewrite it in the future (not anytime soon because of my lectures) but in the mean time, you might send the inaccuracies to me by email. I'm also open if anyone else can rewrite the book in one of the languages I mentioned above so that the community can work on future releases together. I can release the .odt file for convenience if any volunteer comes up... _______________________________________________ help-smalltalk mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/help-smalltalk

The book is now available on Lulu.
Note that this is my first attempt to create a Lulu book and my copy haven't arrived yet (and won't arrive for, probably, 2-3 months since it is how long it takes for shipments to arrive from USA to Turkey) so I don't know how the quality of the book will turn out or if I mislayouted (is there a word like this?) something. Actually, I would appreciate if you can send feedbacks to me about the printed copy you got. Here is the link, I hope you'll enjoy it! http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/computer-programming-using-gnu-smalltalk/7746227 _______________________________________________ help-smalltalk mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/help-smalltalk
