Hello,
I work for a consulting company and we are in the process of submitting a proposal to our client for converting 3 million loc from SmallTalk 6.0 to 8.0. I have no technical knowledge of SmallTalk, and was wondering what are the things that I should be aware of when submitting the proposal. We will later be provided with an opportunity to review the source code and provide the cost of converting.
How big of an effort would be involved in the conversion process (I am aware that I am not providing any knowledge about the application)?
Are there any issues that we should be aware of when converting?
Sometime in the near future (in 2-3 months) we will require someone to help us out in analyzing the source code and provide us with an estimate to convert from Version 6.0 to Version 8.0. This person will then be hired full-time for the conversion process that could take anywhere from 6-12 months.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
