A new site, algebraist.com, promoting Smalltalk and, in particular,
Dolphin Smalltalk has just come on the ether and has been added
to the Dolphin Smalltalk Web ring.
While its contents are initially marginal, I hope it will grow and
be useful to the community with time. At the moment it contains
the results of a term project done as part of Professor Ralph
Johnson's fabulous CS497 course, "Advanced Object-Oriented Design
and Programming", during Autumn 2001, taught by Internet from
UIUC. While for all the usual reasons the project didn't get
as far as I hoped, not the least being the ambitious topic, I am
slugging on and finishing it up. That project, dubbed the "SQL
Mage" is described on the Dolphin Excursions main page and is also
described at
http://wiki.cs.uiuc.edu/cs497rej/Flow+and+Dependency+Analysis+of+SQL+in+SQL+ScriptsThe current product doesn't do anywhere near enough to deserve
to be called a solution of that problem. It's "Build 1". It
will eventually. However, I did implement a version of Peter
Norvig's pattern matcher which was very useful and y'all might
find that handy. It's TheMatcher.pac and available from the
Dolphin Excursions site.
There'll be more documentation and stuff there eventually,
and I'll keep adding code with time.
Enjoy. Please do send on requests, criticisms, etc. I'll
use 'em to steer my priorities.
