Dirty workaround for VW crashes when loading packages under Leopard

Pavel Perikov
Hi, list.

I think i'm not alone in this: VW crashes when loading packages from
Store under Leopard. The probability  of the crash increases as size/
number of packages grows. In my case it happens on both MacBook and
iMac using aqua vm. Both machines are Intel Core2 Duo. After locking
myself in the corner  when i just can't load into the clean image I've
found a dirty hack: ask for pundle loading, confirm it and press Cmd+H
(hide Visual Works) immediately. Wait for a while. Chances are you're
done (i personally didn't experience a single crash while acting this
way).

BTW is this problem known to Cincom and considered?

Pavel

What version of VW? 7.5? Or another?

We have seen (but fixed) similar behavior for the 7.6 builds. Curious
if the LessProgress package from the OpenRepository makes it less
likely to happen.

I posted about that to this list 2. november last year (with error log
attached, seemed to me there was some primitive that failed when
updating window titles), never got a reply to it then.
That was 7.5, running on MacBook Pro.

I just solved it the easy way, and went back to Windows :/
