Doing research with the iPad

abergel
Hi Guys,

I am conscious this email is a bit out of topic. But you may have a valuable experience to share
I am just wondering whether some of you tried to:
  - do some latexing on iPad
  - run Pharo on it

These are the two basic things that I constantly do with my laptop (including web browsing and mails).

Can I throw my laptop for an ipad?

Cheers,
Alexandre

He provides for free a latex compile server... so if you have network connection, this
is a full Latex environment.

Do you remember the 'presentation timer' that we ran at ESUG 2005 in Brussels?

Ah ah! Yes I remember.
I dream about a Pharo that is as convenient to use it on the ipad than on a laptop.

You will need a keyboard and ipda does not handle well option pressed and other.
Stay with your 13 inches you will be really much more efficient.

Absolutely not. An iPad and a laptop are completely different devices.
Besides, Pharo/Squeak runs slooooooow on the iPad

An ipad you take with you when you don't want to take a computer
with you. E.g. for holidays, travels...

And it has 10 hour practical batteries. Very very nice on a flight,
for reading, playing games, even doing some email.
