Folks,
We have now made Patch Level 1 available for Dolphin Smalltalk 4.0.
The patch can be automatically installed from our website by Live
Update. Simply double-click on the Live Update icon in the System
Folder while you are connected to the internet and Dolphin will
connect to the Object Arts update location and download the
appropriate patch files. These files are protected using DolphinSure
to guarantee that they cannot be tampered with it in transit.
The Live Update window will display the list of currently available
patches (at this stage only Patch Level 1) and you should select this
prior to clicking the Install button. Before installing, however, we
would recommend that you read the help documentation associated with
the patch and this can be viewed in your web browser by clicking the
Help button in the Live Update window while the patch is selected.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The version of Live Update distributed with Dolphin 4.0 will flag all
the items (classes and methods etc) that are modified by this patch as
having been changed. Hence, if you install the patch into your working
image, you should ensure that you have first saved out all of your own
changes to their respective packages. If you do not do this then you
may lose track of the changes that you have made since it will not be
possible to tell them apart from those in the patch. Ideally, you
should install this patch into a fresh image, such as the Default.IMG
that is created when Dolphin is first installed.
To reset ALL the change flags after the patch has been installed you
can evaluate:
SmalltalkSystem current beNotChanged
Patch Level 1 updates Live Update to avoid this problem in future.
