Dear Smalltalkers,
The dead-line for registration at early bird fees is approaching (one month to go). So, hurry up and register on our new seaside-based server. http://registration.esug.org/ This server comes with new features. You can now do a group registration and make a single payment. Also, we have reduction tickets (typically for Golden and Platinum sponsors). The ESUG 2010 conference program is about to be ready, and it is as promising as was for the previous editions of the conference. Checkout the preliminary schedule is already on the web, http://www.esug.org/Conferences/2010 See you in Barcelona, Noury ESUG treasurer _______________________________________________ Esug-list mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.esug.org/mailman/listinfo/esug-list_lists.esug.org |
can you please remove this e-mail from your list. This is not the Travis Griggs that wrote a book on small talk. Thanks

Hi all,
I just registered for the ESUG 2010 and I found the message about the bank transfer misleading. Stephan remarked: again!. For European (within EU) transfers, people should fill out shared cost (SHA), in order to ensure the payment is done without costs at all. When you tell your bank "without costs to the beneficiary" they will charge you. Grtz. Diego _______________________________________________ Esug-list mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.esug.org/mailman/listinfo/esug-list_lists.esug.org |
Stephan,
are you talking about payments within the EU (SEPA transfers) or international (SWIFT) payments? Within the EU, if you initiate a SEPA payment, they won't charge any more than for domestic payments and there should normally not be any question about sharing costs at all... Joachim,
I am not sure how all transfers are called, but all banks offer for international payments a choice between: - all costs are for the initiator (DOM) - we share the cost (SHA) - all costs are for benificiary (BEN) Only when you choose SHA, the bank has to transfer cost free within the EU. As said: if you check DOM, most banks will charge you. grtz. Hi Stephan,
You're right. This statement is valid only for transfers from outside the European Union. We'll fix it. Stephan,
so mabe I am talking about a German specialty. All our banks give me a selection between SEPA payments within the EU and international payments for the rest of the world. If I select a SEPA payment, they never ask about sharing costs, because that is defined. SEPA payments have the same cost (if any) like domestic payments. Just a side note:

Please, correct me if I am wrong, but I guess all events on facebook can only be seen by facebook users. Anyway, this event may be seen by any facebook user. On the other hand, do not worry. There is nothing there that is not in ESUG web site. No closed circles here. Jordi,
I think ESUG shouldn't look like a closed circle, and there may still be some people around who neither have nor want a facebook account. For these people it doesn't even matter if there is any info on that site at all: they will never find out and may feel locked out. Joachim Jordi Delgado <[hidden email]> hat am 2. Hi Joaquim, There is no information on the FB event that is not on the ESUG website. This is just a convenient way to do some some buzz. Thank you. Serge,
I am not complaining that *I* cannot read it. I just want to say I would prefer to not tease people onto a news page that is not accessible to everybody. This may give a false impression on how welcome non-insiders are to the conference. Serge Stinckwich <[hidden email]> hat am 2.
