Initially empty in IE, closed IE tab, tried Firefox: non-empty => IE wouldn't want to be the bad guy and displays it after opening the page in a new tab

You may update note 2 accordingly ;-)

Read, yes. Applied, no.
May I suggest replacing inappropriate technology?
Google calendar needs cookies and javascript.
That seems overly constraining for a conference web site.
A search on Google reports many issues with Safari and Google calendar.

agree with you and I will do it as soon as the conference is close
enough that I won't have to do it 10 times. For now, the google
calendar will do the job fine :-)
