As announced on http://socghop.appspot.com/gsoc/program/accepted_orgs/google/gsoc2010 , ESUG was accepted for GSoC 2010! My congratulations!
By the way, where/when it possible to see the number of those "slots" (how many project we can start)? _______________________________________________ Esug-list mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.esug.org/listinfo/esug-list |
Excellent!
Then may be this is time to remove the Javascript IDE project since it has nothing to do with Smalltalk. Or we should also add writing a IDE in PHP, Python, lua, ruby, and objective-C Stef On Mar 18, 2010, at 8:17 PM, Юрий Мироненко wrote: > As announced on http://socghop.appspot.com/gsoc/program/accepted_orgs/google/gsoc2010 , ESUG was accepted for GSoC 2010! Hi Stephane, I recently noticed that there is no Smalltalk implementation of Kara. Kara is used in education and the side effect is that starters learn the syntax of its implementation language by writing code-snippets to move the bug in the Kara-world. http://www.swisseduc.ch/informatik/karatojava/index.html It is used here in Germany to teach informatics. Would be nice to have a Smalltalk implementation, With best regards, Frank Lesser, www.dng.st -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Stéphane Ducasse Sent: Thursday, March 18, 2010 9:33 PM To: Юрий Мироненко; ESUG Mailing list Subject: Re: [Esug-list] ESUG was accepted to GSoC 2010 Excellent! Hi Rita,
Yes, it is nice for learning programming - my son used Lego & VSE-Parts (later we developed a PARTS like framework which we called Prototypes in LSWVST). He is in the finishing the secondary school now - but the teacher has chosen Java-Kara - he knows about Squeak -and I was surprised that they have quite a lot of fun to program in this finite automata world. Also Andy Bower from Object-Arts did an implementation for programming Lego-Robots in Dolphin. But we need to have an implementation of Kara in Smalltalk - to offer an alternative to Java-Kara. Without that young people would learn the humble syntax of other languages. Rita, Frank,
if you haven't already, maybe you should get in touch with Matthias Ehmann at the University of Bayreuth: http://did.mat.uni-bayreuth.de/aktuelles/db/225/Algorithmen_und_Programmierung.pdf hth Joachim Frank Lesser <[hidden email]> hat am 18.
