I'd like to add some stuff to the Fogbugz Welcome page [1], but I can't
work out how to do it. Is a permissions issue maybe hiding something from my page (see attached) ? [1] https://pharo.fogbugz.com/default.asp?W41 cheers -ben pharo.fogbugz.Wiki.png (119K) Download Attachment |
I changed permissions on this wiki. Does it solves the problem?

I do not know if this is really a good thing to allow anyone to edit the pages,
moreover when one can have an account without any check :S I added Ben as an editor, and I think I will revert the write access grant to everyone

I don't believe that malicious contributors are watching out for messing around in wiki pages. If ever there is one, we'll know who he is and we'll be able to revert the page. IMO people should be able to collaborate, that's why wikis exist after all.

Indeed :)
Feel free to set it back then if you want :)

I can tell you that the gimp wiki had such issue with loads of spam. Now its open only for people who ask for an account there. But you can try it and if it fails then you could give access only to people asking here in the list.

Yes, the time of open wikis is over for a long time… there just so many strange people.

But then it was never about strange people, it was about professional coders making good money coding bots that can spam any account. Its a nasty business, but business non the less. What is long over is the creation of malicious software just for the fun of it. Nowdays it has a very specific purpose, to make more money for people that have no hesitation to use any means possible to do so.

I've added some concise info on what worked for me for user registration
to the issue tracker. Rather than clutter up the account list with a test-user, could someone yet to register try out the three steps... https://pharo.fogbugz.com/ cheers -ben |

(My notes are not complimentary about this process. It is convoluted compared with other sites but as we now have written notes rather than a video - that I had to change browsers to play I think I would have been less annoyed just following the text) Ben thanks for making it much more obvious what to do, -- Mark |
