This sounds like the NBPharoOpenDBX class problem described in this thread:

"OpenDBX current wrongly returns a NBPharoOpenDBX class instead of an NBPharoOpenDBX instance."
The quick fix is to execute NBPharoOpenDBX installAsCurrent in a workspace.
