Error in runtime

david.long
Hi everyone,

I am getting this message from a runtime image:

Caught error "target file not writable" when logging to changes file; entry not logged.

I am not sure what is causing it.

Any ideas?

thanks,

David

Re: Error in runtime

Wallen, David

On Win XP, I made my .cha file read-only, and eventually got this error, after getting a different error, and restarting the image. The changes file (*.cha) needs to be writable.

We've been seeing this error in our logs since moving to 7.7.1.  We deploy with a base image (based off of base.im) + parcels, and at some point during our startup we get this error.

We didn't see it with 7.6.

We run on Linux, and our base image is in a directory where our running program doesn't have write access.

I'd be curious what changed in 7.7.1 that is causing something to try to write to the changes file.

Hi Randy,

we received a patch from Cincom that fixed this. After we included it in
our packaging image we were good to go. Cincom was very good about getting
it to us.
