If the form isn't 32bit depth we get a problem, since the pixel conversion first wides the bit range, then transforms each color, then narrows down the bit range to the original one totally ignoring that there are now a bit different alpha values.

For an 8bit pattern this means that the additional alpha values get transformed somewhere into nirwana.
