Nobody did something because nobody sees a easy solution.

This should not be patched. That just creates a larger mess. That was remarked in the discussion.
There was no conclusion on what to do, other than a re-design of the UI.

Having the possibility of multiple open edits in one window without good visual feedback is just bad user interface design. The modal behavior is annoying, but it gives clear visual feedback and discourages having many open edits.

I already described a short-term solution with minimal impact in the last post of the thread.
Add "Open in new browser" to the dialog.
