This project seems to have halted. Why did that happen? Where did the Lively developers move on to? What, if any, is the future of Lively? Cheers

Hi Dave -
No halted at all; just “morphed” into Lively-Web.org (mostly San Francisco crew, esp Robert on CC), and mostly maintained on GIT. Lively is very much in motion still with lots planned for the summer, and there is another “Lively4” project (mostly Potsdam crew, esp Jens on CC) working on a tighter integration with, e.g., DOM and HTML. Feel free to inquire more, once you have gotten oriented. - Dan ————— On Apr 18, 2016, at 10:10 AM, Dave Crossland <[hidden email]> wrote: > > Hi > > This project seems to have halted. > > Why did that happen? > > Where did the Lively developers move on to? > > What, if any, is the future of Lively? > > -- > Cheers > Dave > _______________________________________________ > lively-kernel mailing list > [hidden email] > http://lists.hpi.uni-potsdam.de/listinfo/lively-kernel _______________________________________________ lively-kernel mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.hpi.uni-potsdam.de/listinfo/lively-kernel |
I am delighted to hear this. I was checking the commit log yesterday, trying to work out if it was dead. And I was going to mail the list to ask exactly the same question.
Right, time to set up a new server, and start playing. Cheers Andy On 18 Apr 2016, 14:54 -0400, Daniel Ingalls <[hidden email]>, wrote: Hi Dave - _______________________________________________ lively-kernel mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.hpi.uni-potsdam.de/listinfo/lively-kernel |

Hi Dan! Wow, thanks for the super fast response! This is great to hear :) Are any lively folks in NYC, where I am? :) If not, please do keep me in mind if you pass through :) On 18 April 2016 at 14:52, Daniel Ingalls <[hidden email]> wrote: Hi Dave - Cheers

I’m going to be brazen and ask whether you have a SAP/CDG research roadmap that you could share?
And whether as part of such roadmap you would consider having people to work on Jens Monig’s morphic.js? I worked on a port + extensive rewrite + several new features to morphic.js and I find it a delightful, promising gem. Now I understand that there are already many browser-based lively systems around (for some broad definition of lively systems) but still, I ask just in case ;-) (there are several reasons why morphic.js would be worthwhile, I don’t elaborate here, plus Jens probably already made his case, but I can elaborate on request...) Hi Robert! Thanks for these - great stuff :) I'll follow up when I have more substantial questions, but the emphasis on live-coding is really awesome. On 19 April 2016 at 20:31, Robert Krahn <[hidden email]> wrote: Hi Dave – Cheers

Wow! The projects page is great. But, I couldn't find an obvious link to it via the LK front page. Are there other cool pages on the site that also don't have direct links? Cheers Andy On 20 April 2016 at 17:36, Dave Crossland <[hidden email]> wrote:

Hi,
sending you the link to a new (old :-) Smalltalk-inspired system. http://fizzygum.org/ In particular, for you explicitly: http://fizzygum.org/docs/fizzygum-for-lispers-and-smalltalkers/ Cheers, Davide _______________________________________________ lively-kernel mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.hpi.uni-potsdam.de/listinfo/lively-kernel |
