Fwd: Summer School in Bolivia sponsored by ESUG

> Dear ESUG Board,

> As you may know, last week was held the Summer School on OOP with Smalltalk, in Cochabamba, Bolivia. We would like to share with you some of great moments we had, and what we plan for the future.

> The week was structured as follow:
> - Each morning was Smalltalk classes. On Monday and Tuesday we have theoretical questions and some exercises. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday we had small project developments.
> - In the afternoon, we had tutorials (Seaside, Gemstone, Fuel, Profiling, Empirical studies) in addition to some academic meetings (with other professors, to foster research in Bolivia).
>
> Students were really enthusiastic. A core of 20 students attended at all the classes. Few local teachers were also part of the students.
>
> On Friday, we had a 1 hour session that where students presented and demonstrated their small projects. It went pretty well! Quality of the presentation were excellent, comparable with what we experience in Chile, Argentina or in Europe.
> Most of the projects were made around Roassal and Moose. ObjectProfile sponsored a book "Deep into pharo", in addition to some certificated for distinguished projects.
>
> For the future, we will take the following actions:
> - Nelson will work on a Ruby importer for Moose. He is already in contact with people from Bern
> - Two students will continue to work on a code execution profiler, we hope to produce an academic artifact from this effort
> - Next year we have planed to conduct another summer school
> - Some students have also expressed their interesting in doing a Master in Chile
