I paste a pretty large source code in a Workspace window, select all and
then fileIn. With the version 1.024 I *sometimes* get a dialog with the error message mentioned above - but the compiling process continues in the background !. If I select the same source code again and again and repeat the steps above sometimes it works, sometimes I get the error. The previous version I used (13.2.2014) did not show this effect. Hi Marten,
I haven’t been able to reproduce the problem but I have some suspicions. I’ve added some debugging code so that an error should produce a walkback text window. If you can reproduce the problem in version 1.025 and it gives a stack then send it along and I’ll be able to pursue this better. Hi James,
I just checked it with 1.025 and I was able to reproduce it, but no walkback window is coming up. The code I used it around 370 KByte large - and with this code the error happens in 2 of three cases (file-ins). When I use the whole source code (around 515 KByte Smalltalk source code) it happens always. I tested it again with the version of 13.02.1014 and there the situation is a little different: When "file-in" this 515 KByte code, the progress dialog pops up and goes green for about 20%, waits there and mostly the "busy-dialog" is coming up for a short time, compilation continues and the progress bar closes again (but there were times, where the progress bar does not close). With the newer version this "busy-dialog" is practically gone, instead this error messsage pops up. Hi Marten,
This is strange. I’ve been able to consistently file-in a 520 KB file without issues. I’ve added some more debugging information to 1.026 so that it should (!) produce a Jade.ERRORS file next to the executable. If it does, send it to me and we’ll be closer to figuring it out. If not, then the next task will be to track down all senders of #’+’! As to the UI, there should be a progress dialog and (depending on the mouse placement) there cursor should change from its default to a larger GemStone/S logo many times back and forth. Is the large GemStone/S cursor what you are calling the “busy-dialog”?
