Hello,
Due to an hardware migration mistake on our side, our Garbage collection suddenly takes too long. The VM got moved from an SSD to a RAID 10 with fastcache on top of it. But that ends up not being a good choice. What is the safest way to interrupt a GC simply started with: SystemRepository markForCollection. Can I just kill the process? That's under the old GLASS appliance running 2.4. The GC has been running for 8h now. Thanks, Thierry _______________________________________________ Glass mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.gemtalksystems.com/mailman/listinfo/glass |
Yes, you may kill the process. GemStone will recognize the loss of the process and do appropriate cleanup.

Thanks for the quick answer. Before I kill the process, is there a way to know the % GC completion? In other words I would like to know if the process is about to complete or if we still have a significant amount of waiting time in front of us. Using statmonitor data in vsd, look at the ProgressCount and compare it to the ProgressCount from a recent run that completed.
