It is 7.7.1. We had originally started assuming it would be the next integer increment, but with 7.7 being such a long cycle, and the primary focus in this release being follow-up to things in 7.7, it seemed appropriate to go back to the 7.7.1 convention. We're in the process of changing the references, so you're likely to see things that say one thing in one place and another in others for a little while.

And if it’s 7.7.1, does that have the same semantics as 7.2.1 – 7.4.1, i.e. largely a “rounded out and quality-improved” version of the previous release. We liked that approach: we could develop in 7.N, and as we moved towards our own beta, 7.N.1 would come out and we could make the beta and later the released product with that.
