Eugene,

I'm currently using IE5 and Win2K. > By the way - I am trying the IE version but have Netscape and Mozilla > installed. Could this be the problem? I'm not sure whether Mozilla could be causing a problem but NS certainly shouldn't. It's possible the Windows registry has got slightly confused so try this: 1) Uninstall (all versions of) the plugin 2) Use REGEDIT to remove these key from your registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Plugins/Extension/.pak HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Plugins/MIME/application/x-dolphin-applet If you're not familiar with REGEDIT take care since you can damage your Windows installation if you delete the wrong stuff. 3) If you have both NS and IE on your machine then the best thing to do is to install the Dolphin plugin to the Netscape plugins directory. This means it will work with both browsers. If you choose to only install to the Internet Explorer directory then it will only work with IE. First of all find out where the browser is *actually* installed (i.e. don't just rely on what the plugin installer tells you since it can be inaccurate). For example, my Netscape 4.7 is in: D:\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program\Plugins\ This is the directory where the plugin should be installed. If you are just installing for IE then it will be to a directory like: D:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Plugins\ Once again you should make sure that this is the actual place where the IE browser you are using is installed. 4) Download the latest plugin installer (4.01) for the browser you are using. Actually there is no difference between the two plugins only the install script is slightly different. Install the plugin to the directory above. You need to be logged on with ADMINISTRATOR priviledges under NT or as a POWER USER (or greater) under Win2000. 5) If you've installed to the NS directory try the plugin sample pages in Netscape first. http://www.object-arts.com/Plug-in/Samples/Samples.htm Once you see the plugin working in NS then try Internet Explorer. Hopefully this should now work ok. If you check in REGEDIT you should see that IE will have recreated the keys you deleted above. One of the problems we've found with Internet Explorer is that IE creates these registry keys on first run. This means that the install system is unaware of their existence so they do not get correctly removed if the plugin is uninstalled. This, in turn, leads to problems when the plugin is reinstalled to a different location. It's possible that this is what has caused your problems. BTW, I've taken the liberty of posting your original message and this reply to the Dolphin newsgroup for the benefit of others who may experience the same problem.
