Issue 4926 in pharo: Trait Browsing

pharo
Status: New
Owner: ----

New issue 4926 by [hidden email]: Trait Browsing
http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=4926

If you enter the name of a trait at the top searchbar of a browser window
and hit enter, no class is found and you can not go to the trait!

Neither can you find the trait with the class search (click on the left
browser pane, hit cmd+f, enter the trait name).

Pharo image: dev
Pharo core version: 13315
Virtual machine used: Squeak 4.2.2beta1U
Class browser used if applicable: OBSystemBrowserAdaptor

Yes, I have seen this problem as well. It seems OBSystemBrowserAdaptor does
not care at all about traits. It is not surprise since OB is not
trait-friendly.

Just for 1.3, in 1.4 there is no OB

Problem here is that we are not maintaining anymore OmniBrowser (Lukas was
the one maintaining it, and now his time is very compromised...).
OmniBrowser is very complex tool, and also not prepared to RPackage ('cause
it does not exists at a time)... .
I think the path proposed for 1.4 is to have a cool Nautilus browser
working, and in the long way, to finish Glamoroust tools. So, for instance,
next version can came with a "basic" version with nautilus, and a
configuration for loading glamoroust with a new, powerful IDE (there are
more people working on glamour and it is very easy to use... so I think is
easier and better)

Ah, I think I was not clear with my latest comment, but I'm proposing to
close this issue with #WontFix status :)

But for 1.3, OmniBrowser is the tool to use, or did I miss something? This
means that we do not have trait browsing support in the latest "stable"
pharo image... Instead, we need to know the full name of the trait we are
looking for. Or is there a workaround to look for a trait I have not found
yet?

I agree with Esteban.
If OB does not support Trait, I think it does not worth to fix it in 1.3.
So I am for closing this entry.

I close this issue now that it's really out dated.

If the discussion is not over, feel free to open it again :)
