" There are a host of other new features, and you can read about them by
following this link. " I was going to say there is no link , but pasting it here has just shown the link... in my browser (firefox) on a laptop the link can be barely seen. I also notice that at 1024 resolution (its a mini laptop for travel) your website is just a touch too big (more pronounced in firefox) so contact us is a bit off screen. Tim |

I have noticed the same issue in my Firefox 1.0.7 on Windows XP. Also when the Contact menu is expanded the horizontal slider enlarges because the drop down is even more off the screen. The menu should probably be moved a little more to the left. On the same computer it looks fine with IE. However if I do not enable scripts then there is no navigation menu at all. I wonder if there should be a fallback set of normal links for people who choose not to enable scripts on their browsers. Chris |

I've just made a change to the website stylesheet and the menu code and I think it should address the problems you were seeing. I've tested the site with Firefox 1.5 and a 1024x768 screen and it seems okay and doesn't come up with any superfluous scroll bars now. The links in the main text area are meant to be fairly faint and dashed. I've always felt that links embedded in text seem to break up the flow and make it harder to read. I wanted the links in the main text area (not the sidebars) to not interfere with the text too much. I have, however, darkened the colour of the links to make them somewhat easier to see. I make the window plenty large enough to have the home page fit without vertical scrollbar. Then go to one of the other pages (say, Smalltalk - books ... :-)) and go back to the home page (using the menu). For no apparent reason a vertical scrollbar appears, which disappears again when hovering over the menu bar. I don't know whether it is anything you can/want to do something about, just found it a bit distracting so thought I'll mention it. Ted |

That change is much better, you can see them more clearly now. I also get no horizontal scroll bar in Firefox 1.0.6. However - do notice that the right of the screen moves if you click on some menus and then open the Products menu. e.g. Click on the Shop menu item, after the page loads, open the products menu and the right of the screen jumps out. I think a few other menus do this as well. Its very minor, and appears to be firefox only. (bloody browser wars and their inability to agree on a CSS standard... is my guess). Tim |
