We are happy to announce Loom. Loom monitors the consumption for each of the threads running in the virtual machine.
Loom estimates the consumption by frequently sampling the thread queue. A statistical model is then used to tell how many CPU cycles is allocated for each thread. Loom plots the consumption over the time. Loom is available for VisualWorks and Pharo.
Currently, the VisualWorks version of Loom gives a number of commands to interact with a selected thread. Loom is in a very early stage. Although Loom is not yet a replacement of the AT Profiler and Process Browser, it nicely complements these standard tools.
