Moose version status/plans

Ben Coman

I was just pointing someone to have a look at Moose, but I'm not sure of
the status of Moose 4.8 Development.  I understand that Moose is
tracking Pharo 3.0, but I'm unsure if that is being done in 4.8, or 4.8
was going to synch with Pharo 2.0, and 4.9 was to track Pharo 3.0.
Could you clarify.

This from February...

Re: Moose version status/plans

Tudor Girba-2
Hi,

Moose 4.8 is on Pharo 2.0, and it is still in development, but should be released soon.

The next version will be Moose 5.0 and that will be on Pharo 3.0.

Cheers,
Doru

I suggest to sync with synectiquers because I would like to avoid to have people working on 2.0 and other on 3.0 alpha.
And we should learn how to limit the stress with clients in the middle.

Re: Moose version status/plans

Tudor Girba-2
Certainly. That is why I announced the plans since the beginning of the year :).

The thing is that there are many improvements that come in Pharo 3.0 and we should work and improve them.

Re: Moose version status/plans

Usman Bhatti
The last time major amount of work was related to moving Moose to SThub, and updating and cleaning configurations. Once done, we were able to make the Moose build green over a Moose sprint in Lille and with support from Doru.

This time things should be smoother. For me, end of june sounds reasonable for a release and then we can arrange a Moose sprint around that time to move Moose to pharo 3.0. Questions:

- Now that we have jenkins that builds individual Moose projects, can we have an incremental move towards 3.0?
- How stable is pharo 3.0?

regards,

Usman

Re: Moose version status/plans

Sounds good.

Does anyone else sees a problem with releasing Moose 4.8 at the end of June and moving the development of Moose 5.0 to Pharo 3.0?

Cheers,
Doru

When is the summer release of Pharo 2 planned?  Maybe good for Moose-4.8 to coincide?
