NYC for a group?

Sung won Lim
Hi,

Just wondering if anyone on the list is around NYC, I think it'd be really great to have a smalltalk meeting group going in the city :)

Hello.

Yes, I'm in NYC. However I'm mostly a Ruby guy, with a strong interest
in Smalltalk; I periodically tinker with Pharo, and I lurk here (this
is my first actual message to the list).  So I'm probably an odd
candidate to be part of a Smalltalk meeting.  :-)

That said, sure, I'd be interested.

Hi guys

I thought that sean is living in NY. I will let him reply.
If you want that we organise a small coding remote session we can do that too.
We pick a little topics and we try to do something.

Not at all! I came from the Ruby world and, even though I'm all Smalltalk now, I still attend Ruby conferences and get value out of them.

There is a NYC Smalltalk group. I've been trying to contact the organizer to do an Amber presentation, but no luck so far. If I don't hear back in a reasonable time, we could just set one up on our own...

p.s. there are a few other NYC Smalltalkers that I know of. The meetings that I went to usually had about 6-8.
Cheers,
Sean

Alas, looking at the job listings, I can see why Smalltalk is for rich men!  ;-)

And there is Stan B. over in Newark - a top-drawer Smalltalk corp developer/contractor from EU

That sounds awesome! I’m up for anything, so if there’s anyone around NYC please speak up.

For the small number of us around here if you’re interested I can even provide a pretty cool meeting space close to union square in Manhattan

I'm in the general area (Long Island), but not sure what the purpose of
such a meeting would be.

So... is everyone waiting for someone else to announce something?  :-)

I count 5: Sung won Lim, Ray Brinzer, Sean P. DeNigris, Tony Giaccone,
and Paul Davidowitz.  Sung has the spot.  Weekday or weekend, daytime
or evening?

Weekday evenings after 5:30. Tuesday and Thursdays are best for me.
