I have no *$@#! idea how Stephan and company did this so fast and so well. I just ordered my print version form Lulu, and I eagerly anticipate it’s arrival in the mail. Excellent job everyone, especially to the authors: Andrew P. Black,
Stéphane Ducasse, Oscar Nierstrasz, Damien Pollet, Damien Cassou, Marcus Denker! Hi, does this book use the development image or the standard
image? I know that the standard image and the development image
differ in regards to what appears in the various popup-menus.

It looked like the stock image to me - I guess the developer image is changing too quickly at the moment. Oscar was saying that they'd be interested in producing a second edition after this has bedded in, so if they were thinking of updating the pictures, it might be useful to freeze a developer image so that new starters get to experience the most attractive version of Squeak. Can't one download any of Damien's old developer images pretty much forever? (For values of "forever" that are applicable on the Internet, anyway.) _______________________________________________ Seaside mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside |

What I was getting at was that Damien and the authors could agree on a version that contains a good set of attractive features for new users, and nothing too bleeding edge, and explicitly re-label that as the "Squeak By Example, version 2" official image, use it for the screenshots in the book, and give it good prominence on the download sites. Cheers, Michael. _______________________________________________ Seaside mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside |
Hi, I would like that being that the standard and the dev image differ
in regards to what may appear when accessing the GUI elements?

Sounds like a good idea. I haven't found that Damien's images by default carry anything too scary. :-) And I've had no stability issues with it. But I'll try to do sommething like that with my writings, too. _______________________________________________ Seaside mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside |

work a lot, stack stuff such as columns, have fun together and talk
less :) Thanks :) The simple way to thanks us is to buy the book (we make no profit) so that we can say that we sell a lot to the people that laugh at us :) Stef On 13 sept. 07, at 18:19, Chris Cunnington wrote: > > I have no *$@#! idea how Stephan and company did this so fast and > so well.
