[ OT ] Je suis Charlie

Sven Van Caekenberghe-2
I am shocked by yesterday's events in Paris.

Freedom of speech, including satire, is a fundamental right.

I am sure that Liberté, égalité, fraternité will prevail.

The way we work together in our little community, building and supporting free & open source software as a way to contribute to society, with diverse people from all over the world respecting each other, is one example of what humans can do. I am proud of that.

Same here.

I have been reading these guys since I was a child and they shaped a lot of my thinking.

#jesuischarlie indeed!

Extremely sad. I cried. When you see the violence with which the guy kills the policeman lying on the floor,
you can vomit.
I cannot imagine the violence in the building. Imagine killing 80 year old men like Wolinsky with a kalashnikov.
These comics were really fun I often laugh a lot because they jokes all powers.

Our condolences from Greece, very sad day for mankind and freedom of speech.  Any form of fanatism can only damage and unfortunately we have witnessed its worst form yesterday.

Also, condolences from Barcelona. No words to describe the horror. We all are Charlie.

A couple of days ago, a French guy here in Buenos Aires was telling me that France is not how it used to be, that a lot of violence is going on... And I was refusing to believe him, given such a wonderful and warming experience living in Lille. And then, this... But it is not just France, it's
over the world, we live among a lot of violence and intolerance, and we forget that all in all we are all people.
Or ar least, some tiny groups of people forget, and live in the belief that they have the right to decide who deserves to live or not.
But as one of our presidents wrote (yes, in French): On ne tue pas les idées.

Trop triste. Je suis bouleversée. Toutes mes pensées vont aux amis en France.
On est tous Charlie.

Well, if we look at facts:

Check some numbers:

It makes it even more unbearable.
