Very nice, much needed, much appreciated.
PS: Why no html (yet) ? HTML chapters make it easy to show people where to look. > On 10 Mar 2017, at 20:54, stepharong <[hidden email]> wrote: > > Hi > > After several iterations and some month of efforts, the new version of Pharo by Example is finally available in print form and pdf. > > http://books.pharo.org > > > Tx all the contributors. > > -- > |

The pictures are not well exported if I remember. no good template no time no energy no help... Right now I'm trying to avoid to trash pillar (it was not in my aganda but life is shit) and go back to that one LaTeX. Stef |

It is great thanks!
As a side note, I always order the paper version to support the effort, but I found the printed books quality to not resist to intensive use, the pages tend to fall apart. Any alternative for more solid printed book? From previous experience, I found printing to local printer to produce more durable material (spiral ones). You cannot imagine the effort to produce a decent cover. I will check if there is a spiral version on lulu. The problem is that sometimes (I learned it the hard way), changing the color of the paper changes the format :( I have two other books on the back burner and I would like to push them out of the door. But pillar is also in need for love because I want to use ecstatic and I should work on the module system for pharo plus all the rest ;) Stef > > Hilaire > > Le 10/03/2017 à 20:54, stepharong a écrit : >> After several iterations and some month of efforts, the new version of >> Pharo by Example is finally available in print form and pdf. >> >> http://books.pharo.org > -- Using Opera's mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ |

Hilaire
I like your suggestion and I checked on lulu The current size is format royal 15.6 * 23.39 (and I think that we should not get smaller) Now on spiral I got black and white: Letter US 21.6 * 27.94 A5 but this is smaller 14.81 * 20.99 cream: 15.24 * 22.86 (I think that it will be too small) So I will give a try to produce a spiral in Letter US and let you know. If you are interested I could give you access to a print version as soon as I get the cover. Stef |
Apparently we need to produce a pdf to the new format. I will check with damien P On Sun, 12 Mar 2017 17:43:15 +0100, stepharong <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hilaire > > I like your suggestion and I checked on lulu > The current size is > format royal 15.6 * 23.39 (and I think that we should not get smaller) > > Now on spiral I got > black and white: Letter US 21.6 * 27.94 > A5 but this is smaller 14.81 * 20.99 > > cream: 15.24 * 22.86 (I think that it will be too small) > > So I will give a try to produce a spiral in Letter US and let you know. > If you are interested I could give you access to a print version as soon > as I get > the cover. > > Stef > > > -- Using Opera's mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ |

The CI link provided also has HTML artifacts for each chapter BUThttps://ci.inria.fr/pharo-contribution/view/Books/job/UpdatedPharoByExample/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/book-result/UpdatedPharoByExample.pdf#page=13&zoom=auto,-101,177 On Fri, Mar 10, 2017 at 11:10 PM Sven Van Caekenberghe <[hidden email]> wrote: Very nice, much needed, much appreciated. |
