Populating my user dir

Ryan Riley
I've been reading through a lot of the introductory, getting started, and tutorial material, but I am unsure as to how to proceed. I have an empty user directory, which I think might have been a mistake when the directory was generated. Is it better for me to use a local copy of LK to test and play with ideas?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan.

Cool! If you have any feedback on those worlds, please let us know :-)

Yes, that was a mistake - thanks for letting us know! The reorganization from last week wasn't reflected in the "get your own workspace" snippet. If you give that link on http://lively-kernel.org/repository/webwerkstatt/gettingStarted.xhtml another try, it should create you a user's folder (webwerkstatt/users/panesofglass) with an initial world for you in it (../start.xhtml). Sorry for the inconvenience.

Is it better for me to use a local copy of LK to test and play with ideas?
It completely fine to use the webwerkstatt online to test and play with LK, to develop applications and parts, and to work on the kernel! That's the idea behind Lively and webwerkstatt :-) We develop on local copies only to do major refactorings or experiments that we wan't to try before applying for all users ... :-)

Best,
Lauritz
