Problem starting VAST 8.6.2

Long Haired David
Hi there.

I have just installed 8.6.2 on a remote server and wanted it to be a mirror of my development machine. I installed VAST from the standard install pack ( OS is Windows Server 2008 R2). I then copied across all of the files in the dev image folder plus my mgr862.dat so what I have there should be the same as here.

When it starts up, I get this error

but when I ask to continue the system loads and all of my software runs perfectly. Then I get this:

Can anyone suggest what has gone wrong. My home system is running on Windows 10 (inside Parallels on an iMac).

David

Re: Problem starting VAST 8.6.2

Louis LaBrunda
Hi Dave,

I think it means it can't find the DLL.  Are you sure everything is loaded and there is a good path to the DLLs?

It is entirely possible that the DLL depends on a Windows DLL that is not on your Windows 10 installation. It could also be that PG32.DLL is installed on your system, but not where it can be found. PG32.DLL appears to be (part of?) a product of Three D Graphics (http://www.threedgraphics.com/tdg/). They have a chart package for Crystal Reports and other things.

Does any of that ring a bell?

Laying in bed last night, think,as you do,I realised that probably had WindowBuilder and the other Instantiations stuff in my home image. I will load up those and see how I get on. I think that WidgetKit needs some DLLs so that is probably the problem.

That sorted it. I downloaded the DLL set from  WidgetKit/Business Graphics and everything loads fine now. I obviously did have this built into my system. I remember now that I loaded it to try out some of my Open University assignments that were meant to be done in Python but I had a go in VAT.

Thanks for the suggestions.
