Problem to compile gst-objc

Germán Arias
With "autoreconf -vi" I get the error:

autoreconf: running: automake --add-missing --copy --no-force
Makefile.am:18: Libtool library used but `LIBTOOL' is undefined
Makefile.am:18:   The usual way to define `LIBTOOL' is to add
`AC_PROG_LIBTOOL'
Makefile.am:18:   to `configure.ac' and run `aclocal' and `autoconf'
again.
Makefile.am:18:   If `AC_PROG_LIBTOOL' is in `configure.ac', make sure
Makefile.am:18:   its definition is in aclocal's search path.
autoreconf: automake failed with exit status: 1

I have GCC 4.6 and I have libtool installed.

Make sur that aclocal can find the m4 file of gst.

The file must be here:
/usr/local/share/aclocal

Add this to the dirlist of aclocal, you can found the dirlist  file with `aclocal --print-ac-dir`/dirlist.
You can get more info if you look at the man page of aclocal.

The file is there.

There is no dirslit file at /usr/local/share/aclocal/. This was the
path returned by `aclocal --print-ac-dir`/dirlist. But I noticed that I
have two directories aclocal and aclocal-1.11. gst is at "aclocal". The
file dirlist don't exist in any of these directories. I create one at
aclocal. But now I get the error:

autoreconf: running: /usr/local/bin/autoconf
configure.ac:17: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_PROG_LIBTOOL
If this token and others are legitimate, please use
m4_pattern_allow.
      See the Autoconf documentation.
configure:2725: error: possibly undefined macro: m4_if
autoreconf: /usr/local/bin/autoconf failed with exit status: 1

On gNewSense there isn't a package libtool-dev, supposedly the dev
package is libltdl3-dev, and I have this installed. So I install libtool
from source. And now "autoreconf -vi" is OK. But now with ./configure, I
get

german@german-desktop:~/Instalados/gst-objc$ ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /bin/mkdir -p
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
./configure: line 2821: syntax error near unexpected token `0.7'
./configure: line 2821: `    PKG_PROG_PKG_CONFIG(0.7)'
german@german-desktop:~/Instalados/gst-objc$

You need pkgconfig-dev too, or something like that.  (Can you search for
what package provides pkgconfig.m4?)

Well, I searched in Ubuntu database (gNewSense is based on Ubuntu Hardy)
but there isn't a package with a file "pkgconfig.m4". There is a file
pkg.m4, but no pkgconfig.m4.

That should be the one you need.

The problem was the path of pkg.m4. This is at /usr/share/aclocal, so a
copied it to /usr/share/local/aclocal, where is installed the gst.m4

But now whit make, I get the error (I have GNUstep from SVN and GCC

Mathieu, did you already commit any patch requiring the new GNU
Smalltalk event loop?  Probably you should create a branch without
those, or did the old event loop only work with Cocoa and not with GNUStep?

Paolo I have create a tag v0.01 before the new event loop.
I should have branch it instead. Sorry for that.

The state of the new event loop is that it work on GNUstep but I haven't found
the time to test it on OSX. Sorry :(.

So on OSX you should only use the "NSApp run" for the time being

Germán. It look like you did not include the GNUstep header. You should source
 the .../Makefiles/GNUstep.sh.

Can you see sone GNUSTEP_* variable in you environment?

Also consider using the tag v0.01.

It look like you are not using the libobjc2 runtime.
You should. You can fetch it from:
http://svn.gna.org/svn/gnustep/libs/libobjc2/trunk

Seems that you did not switch to the v0.01 tags. This function is only access
after v0.01.
Alternatively you can download it from:
https://github.com/mathk/gst-objc/tree/v0.01
