It makes no sense to execute a deprecation outside the context of a method,  
so I don't see any problem with this.

DoIt's no longer install actual methods in any dictionaries, this is by  
design.

yes, and deprecated is a meta-level message, indicating that given method  
is deprecated. So, using it in doits makes no sense anyways.
