Rebuilding FunSqueak

Edgar De Cleene

I  decide start again from Squeak5.1rc2-16535-32 .zip with .image and .changes for all platforms.
By now expand it an update only in Mac with old CogSpur3410
Update to 17000, saveAs Squeak5.1rc2-17000-32bit
Bugs I found
Flaps makeNavigatorFlapResembleGoldenBar do not have the same font as other Flaps.
Object Flaps have bugs.
Collaborative don't show all Morphs
Clicking on "Navigation" raise debugger.
Clicking on "Text" and "Useful" don't show any Morphs.

I put all i do in http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/6375 , so i check www.squeakros.org gets the changes well.

Edgar, great to see that you rebuild FunSqueak.

I wonder what the reason is

to use Squeak 5.1 release candidate 2

rather than the release?

Re: Rebuilding FunSqueak

Edgar De Cleene
I think is newer
Squeak5.1rc2-16535-32bit/ 2016-08-20 07:20 says http://ftp.squeak.org/5.1rc2/
And think release gives me all in one, by now I prefer stick to only .image and .changes
Also I see updating the FunSqueak5.1-15378.image i build earlier with trunk i loose my changes.
Once I get some working (thanks Tim to force me to climb the attic, I found some useful od code) , try to go the Environments
Perhaps I could have my changes In some Environment and still keep trunk as was ?

I suggest to do one with 5.1 first

Seems to be a good idea for a second step.

Yes, doing the load tests directly in Trunk

     http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/6538

makes sense.

The trunk version actually works well currently.

Re: Rebuilding FunSqueak

You losted me.
The link direct to 6.0alpha.
At some point I of it and was full of bugs.
You prefer I start of 6.0 alpha whatever is now ?
Could I save and reload any Project in this ?
From zero I mean, uploading only .st and creating stuff here.
I like revamp my very old Railroad project , but using my Monticello changes for having a .mcz with all I need, sound, picts, etc like I show some time ago.
I load my very old 3.8
Here you have a very short glimpse

P.S. Tim, if you read this , I think cook a MeterMorph derived of TrackMorph curve with a arrow morph as meter

Hi Edgar. If you start from that point the very first thing you need to do is update from trunk (just update).  I had the same issue last week.
Apparently that version was taken mid-refactoring. A new snapshot should really be taken -that on raises the depreciation error for every step in the initial configuration steps.

Re: Rebuilding FunSqueak

This means that in the code you load you have to replace the call

Preferences menuTitleColor

with what is indicated after the deprecation warning.

        ^ (UserInterfaceTheme current get: #titleColor for: #MenuMorph)
ifNil: [ Color transparent]

This problem is the same in 5.1 release and 6.0alpha. Because 5.1
includes 'themes' and old code which does direct calls like

    Preferences menuTitleColor

needs to be adapted.

Well, that's only the case if you are _not_ a MenuMorph and want to look like one.

If you have code in MenuMorph, or you have an instance of MenuMorph, you can go over that one:

MenuMorph new userInterfaceTheme titleColor "-> Color transparent in my theme"

Edgar, what is the code that calls `Preferences menuTitleColor`?

Best regards
