On amazon.co.uk I get £2.73 off of the Squeak book (just checked). They say the full price is $39.99. What did you get? -- Vennlig hilsen Syver Enstad |

G'day all,
How is this for a price. I nearly discorporated when I looked at the price of the Squeak book in Border's Bookstore Chatswood - Sydney >>>$AUD270!!! Even a bargain Aussie Dollar can't explain that one - I was expecting a chair and bookshelves thrown in for that price. --Peter Goodall "Syver Enstad" <[hidden email]> wrote in message news:[hidden email]... > "Donald MacQueen" <[hidden email]> writes: > > amazon quoted me full retail for the book. did anybody get it > > cheaper? > > Not me, anyway. > > i > > > > have heard they use some kind of variable pricing system. they also > > wanted > > > > full retail for the new book ' squeak - a quick trip to objectland'. > > On amazon.co.uk I get £2.73 off of the Squeak book (just > checked). Best Web Buys (http://www.bestwebbuys.com) reports that the only bookstore offering a discount on Ted's book is BooksAMillion, and then only if you're a member of their "Millionaire's Club". Maybe they'll start discounting after it's released. Bob Jarvis |

It has indeed been released in the UK, and copies should make it to our warehouse in the US Dec 28, so it should start hitting store shelves the second week of January or so. The suggested list price is $39.99. I wish I could tell you how Amazon.com's discounting works, but they won't tell me. After it is released and they start selling it they may decide to go ahead and discount it. Hope that helps. Curt Johnson |

I have had this book on order through Barnes & Noble since like July 2001. As of last check with them, they reported it still was not available but I am not cancelling my order for it. Ted and Addison-Wesley deserve whatever piece of the action they get on the release. Waiting and looking forward to it.... -j -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- Jan Theodore Galkowski [hidden email] The Smalltalk Idiom http://www.algebraist.com/ ********************************************************************* "Smalltalk?
