Maybe this has been addressed somewhere but it seems
that when I try to upload a file that has a trailing carriage return in it, seaside 'hangs' - waiting forever for a response. I am using (on Windows): Squeak3.8-6555full Seaside2.6b1-mb.79 Scriptaculous-lr.137 I have tried this with both Opera and Firefox with same result. In seaside going to '[tests], 'allcanvastests', 'upload': find a file that loads properly, then edit the file to add a trailing carriage return. Then try to load it. Seaside seems to 'hang' endlessly waiting... I hope this can be reproduced. Thanks, Chuck Kasmire __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Chuck,
Works fine for me on my Mac. What type of file are you trying to upload? That page displays the contents of the file you are uploading so displaying a non-text file might be problematic. What do you mean by "hang". Can you still access the app. Is squeak taking up 100% of your CPU time ? Does it require a restart? Plain text files. I can upload a plain text file (no trailing cr) and it works fine. Edit that file and add a cr at the end and - nothing. > What do you mean by "hang". Can you still access the > app. Is squeak > taking up 100% of your CPU time ? Does it require a > restart? Yes, let me clarify that. What I meant was that it seems that the browser is just stuck waiting for a response that doesn't come. I can hit the back button to get back out of it. Squeak seems fine. This actually occurred when trying to use the upload in a dialog or as a seperate component (not sure of the correct wording here). When running in the 'allcanvastests', if there is a trailing cr then there is no output of the file - the upload 'tab' just closes. Where as if there is no trailing cr then the file name and contents are shown. -Chuck > > Thanks > Will > > On Oct 20, 2006, at 1:59 PM, Chuck Kasmire wrote: > > > Maybe this has been addressed somewhere but it > seems > > that when I try to upload a file that has a > trailing > > carriage return in it, seaside 'hangs' - waiting > > forever for a response. > > > > I am using (on Windows): > > Squeak3.8-6555full > > Seaside2.6b1-mb.79 > > Scriptaculous-lr.137 > > > > I have tried this with both Opera and Firefox with > > same result. > > > > In seaside going to '[tests], 'allcanvastests', > > 'upload': > > find a file that loads properly, then edit the > file to > > add a trailing carriage return. Chuck,
I just tried it using Windows and have no problems. I am using something that mostly resembles Seaside2.6a3-pmm.71 Try installing a version of seaside closer to 2.6a3 into a fresh image and see if you see a difference. Have you tried a variety of files ? If it is small can you send the file you are having trouble with to the list and maybe we could try and duplicate. Thanks Will On Oct 20, 2006, at 2:09 PM, William Harford wrote: > Chuck, > > Works fine for me on my Mac. > > What type of file are you trying to upload? > > That page displays the contents of the file you are uploading so > displaying a non-text file might be problematic. > > What do you mean by "hang". Hi William,
With Notepad I create a text file such as: 'text file with no training cr' and save it as 'nocr.txt'. Then open that file and edit it by adding a cr at the end of the file and saving it as: 'withcr.txt' Starting with a clean image (seaside-2.6) that I just downloaded from: http://www.seaside.st/Download/Images/ I start seaside: 'WAKom startOn: 8080'. Open my browser on seaside and navigate to 'tests'> 'alltests' > 'upload'. select 'upload', choose the file named 'nocr.txt' and then click the 'submit' button. Everything works - anchor with file name and file contents show. Do the same with the file: 'withcr.txt' and nothing happens (the little hourglass cursor shows seemingly forever). If I choose another file (without a trainling cr) and hit 'submit' then the new file will work fine - showing the contents, etc. No effect on squeak. The problem is not with a specific file. I can load jpegs, text files, html files, etc. They all work as long as there is no trailing cr. This is on Windows 2000 with opera 9.01. I also tried it with Firefox and same thing. very strange. Thanks for your help, -Chuck --- William Harford <[hidden email]> wrote: > Chuck, > > I just tried it using Windows and have no > problems. > > I am using something that mostly resembles > Seaside2.6a3-pmm.71 > > Try installing a version of seaside closer to 2.6a3 > into a fresh > image and see if you see a difference. > > Have you tried a variety of files ? I didn't even know upload worked. Everytime I tried it (like twice) it
just hung. If I get time I will try your test. I'm at the max version in the 2.6 (well I was as of Monday, may be 10 revs back by now. :) ). Thanks, let me know. It would be nice to know if
someone is able to reproduce this. -Chuck --- Jason Johnson <[hidden email]> wrote: > I didn't even know upload worked. Everytime I tried > it (like twice) it > just hung.
