It would be pity, but maybe we have to close the repository for public write access? Lukas -- Lukas Renggli http://www.lukas-renggli.ch _______________________________________________ seaside mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside |
More populated open comunities use to have a core team commiting changes.
The rest of the community is making/sending (or commiting in another repo?) contributions of all kind. I don't know the best way to organize that but for me, having the Seaside core releases protected from casual changes has a lot of sense cheers, Sebastian Sastre > -----Mensaje original----- > De: [hidden email] > [mailto:[hidden email]] En nombre > de Lukas Renggli > Enviado el: MiƩrcoles, 12 de Diciembre de 2007 09:00 > Para: Seaside - general discussion > Asunto: Re: [Seaside] Seaside2.8a1-ljz.531 > > > Please stop committing with empty log messages. > > It would be pity, but maybe we have to close the repository > for public write access? > > Lukas > > -- > Lukas Renggli > http://www.lukas-renggli.ch > _______________________________________________ > seaside mailing list > [hidden email] > http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside _______________________________________________ seaside mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside |

If you chose to restrict commits. You could still keep it pretty open by allowing only those who are either registered with Squeaksource or have there initials on the Squeak wiki to have commit access. If a committer violates protocol, you could send an instructional corrective email. If a second violation occurs, remove commit rights. The initials in question I could not find in either place. Even the Squeak wiki is locked down these days. Initials http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/1011 Just some ideas. Thanks. Maybe we have to add a security setting to SqueakSource that only allows everybody to read but only authenticated people to commit? Philippe? I deleted the version for now. I'm willing to delete more before I vote to close the repository. I'm sure it was not intentional but rather an unconscious mistake by someone learning Monticello. That is what I was referring to as locked. It requires a user/pass and isn't purely open as it once was. I knew it wasn't very locked per se. Let it become a problem before changing the policy. But it would be nice if we had a name to associate with the initials.
