Some early D5 goodies

Bill Schwab-2
Hello all,

On my web site, you will find a version of Migrate that should help in
getting things out of D4 and into D5.  It uses an updated version of
CodeGenerator, which is included in the zip file.  There are some oddities
of this particular version that result partly from some changes in the way
D5 handles source filing, and partly because I decided to freeze the design
before I broke it again.  On the positive side, I think you'll find it
simpler to use because it does more to help on the new image side and
arguably has a better user interface.  Now that I have things loaded into D5
RC1, I hope to make time to improve Migrate to help with building my final
D5 image.  At that point, it might start to make sense :)

For your D5 enjoyment, check out the browser filtering goodie.  The usual
"don't come crying to me if you didn't make a backup first" cautions apply.
More to come.

Enjoy!

Bill

Hello all,

My D5 goodies are on the web.  I've added a small Word Automation package,
and Migrate is significantly revised.  Note that there is a D4-D5 version of
Migrate in a separate zip file. Also check out the AcmeClassBrowser package.

CodeGenerator and Wizadry have IDE extensions.  You'll have to explicitly
activate them - look for #activateExtension.  As soon as I figure out how to
do it smoothly, I'll arrange for Migrate to suppress/collect extensions for
later activation.  For now, I ask you to take the extra step.  My concern is
over what happens when an extension blows up in a future image; by reserving
the activation to a separate step, there's room to test and debug in the new
image before the extensions are active.

Enjoy!

Bill
