I was never a serious SqueakNOS developer, but have been very interested in the same ideas for a long time now.
I am now one year into a serious project along these lines called Snabb Switch. That's like a SqueakNOS based on LuaJIT, targeting the Cisco IOS application domain,
and using Linux like a fancy BIOS.
