Hi, From the Tamaris website: Tamaris is an object explorer for squeak. Objects can be managed inside one or several taxonomies. A taxonomy is represented as a tree of objects references. Basically, an object is handled as a simple object reference node that allow referenced object to be viewed by a standard inspector. Some specialized reference classes are already implemented as class or system category references. They make Tamaris a powerful developement tool with: * multi classifications : one manager can manage severals classifications; * multi-pane facilities : one window can be splitted horizontally or vertically; one classification manager per window pane; * linkable items : a classification item can be linked elsewhere, in its classification or into another one; * history and searching facilities; * recents and bookmarks; * and other features: try it! It's not very easy to use the first time, but after that it is VERY VERY useful. In the same window you have class browsers, Transcript and workspace, you can navigate very easily, find superclasses, subclasses, navigate trough the history, etc Tamaris is so powerful that if you learn to use this tool you will probably always use it :) If you have questions about how to use it, you can ask me. Ohh, I almost forgot, the website: http://cassoulet.univ-brest.fr/squeak/tamaris/ The author of Tamaris is a good friend, do not hesitate to ask him questions too: [hidden email] And Janko, good to see that you finally use it ;) Cheers! I tried to visit website before ask, but the site didn't work,
As I can see, you may change in Universes package, HomePage from http://cassoulet.univ-brest.fr/squeak/Tamaris to http://cassoulet.univ-brest.fr/squeak/tamaris (lowercase T). Then, for newbs like me, is a System Browser, with transcript, worskpace included :P I will try it, thanks ;) nico escribió: > Le lundi 23 juin 2008 à 12:50 +0200, Giuseppe Luigi Punzi a écrit : > >> Hi list, >> >> Nico, I can see thath you maintain the Tamaris Package. >> >> There are some site where I can see what is the proppose of this, and >> how to use it? Have you been able to extract the tamaris.pdf file just to try and get started? This does look very useful, but I'm not sure where to begin!

Just going by the readme, but it doesn't seem to be in the sar file... Opening Tamaris : from "world menu/open" From a workspace: Tamaris open For more Tamaris functionalities you can install following package : - MultiSelectionInLists - SIXX en Yaxo for taxonomies input/output via XML files; - SmaCC Smalltalk Compiler-Compiler-Development with developpment environment - Scamper - Monticello - Refactoring browser - ODBC, ODBCenh and TamODBC for some basic database admin and query functionalities You can read Tamaris.pdf as a quick start guide (sorry but it's minimal and sure bad english). enjoy! Nico,
About Tamaris, can you add auto freeze of taxonomy instead of manual with that button? I got really angry when forgoing to save/freeze view when switching to other taxonomy. I'd really appreciate that enhancement! I'd really appreciate that enhancement! Unfortunately, the author doesn't want to improve Tamaris anymore. Last time we talked about it, he was thinking about a new version from scratch, with a new name too. Anyway, I'll ask him. At any rate, I'm giving it a try...it looks like a really useful way to organize your work. Rob
