I caught something last nite on CNN about a new imposition requiring a passport on the way back from Canada. I happen to have mine although I can't quite remember where. Anyhow, this will be a drag for those U.S citizens that want to go to Smalltalk Solutions which do not presently have a passport. You can't just really walk-in and get one. Mine took a while and it was pre 911. Can somebody confirm? thanks -- Charles A. Monteiro http://wiki.nycsmalltalk.org http://www.monteirosfusion.com http://monteirofusion.blogspot.com |
Oops, should have sent this to the group as well.
Sean ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Charles, I work near the Canadian border and many of my co-workers cross the border regularily. Unfortunately nobody has in the last 24 hours. However we did find an article that says, at this time, only air travelers are required to show a passport. Land and sea travelers will not be required until January 2008. Here's the <a href="http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,245822,00.html" target="_blank" onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)">article. If any of my co-workers get detained in the next few days I'll let you know. Sean On 1/23/07,

Yes, that's correct. But it's OK, they'll be able to come to
the conference, they just won't be able to go home :-)
Similarly, Canadian citizens now require a passport to go to the US, and entry requirements for others to go to the US have been stricter for some time (e.g. involve getting fingerprinted). I think this was all announced a year or more ago, and there's been quite some fuss about it. Anyone thinking about attending Smalltalk Solutions and coming from the US - you will need a passport. Apply now. At 09:21 AM 1/23/2007, Charles A. Monteiro wrote: Sorry , if inappropriate. --

I have always wanted an excuse to stay in Canada, the Tim Horton's coffee
chain came close :) I have always thought that we let Canadians come and go too freely, seriously. On Tue, 23 Jan 2007 09:48:23 -0500, Alan Knight <[hidden email]> wrote: > Yes, that's correct.
